Every other platform gets the list form, which runs sendmail directly. When the caller supplies no envelope, Email::Sender::Simple takes the recipients from the To and Cc headers and the sender from the From header.\n\nAn attacker who controls one of those header addresses runs commands as the sending process.","cvssScore":9.8,"cvssSeverity":"CRITICAL","cvssVector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","cwes":["CWE-78"],"vendors":[],"products":[],"references":[{"url":"https://github.com/rjbs/Email-Sender/commit/9a587bc9ff4edae13239190c2651da2c76b1e72c.patch","tags":[]},{"url":"https://metacpan.org/release/RJBS/Email-Sender-2.602/changes","tags":[]},{"url":"http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2026/09/21/8","tags":[]}],"exploitRefs":[{"url":"https://github.com/rjbs/Email-Sender/commit/9a587bc9ff4edae13239190c2651da2c76b1e72c.patch","tags":[]}],"hasPoc":true,"ai":{"summary":"This vulnerability allows arbitrary command execution on Windows when the envelope address is controlled by an attacker, leading to potential remote code execution as the sending process.","exploitability":"Exploitation is relatively straightforward if an attacker can control the envelope address, which is a common field in email headers.","blast_radius":"If exploited, the impact could be severe, as it allows an attacker to execute arbitrary commands on the server hosting the vulnerable application.","remediation":"Upgrade to Email::Sender::Transport::Sendmail version 2.602 or later.","detection":"No reliable host or network indicator is derivable from the published description.","tags":["rce","perl","email","sendmail","windows"],"model":"qwen2.5:7b-instruct","analyzedAt":"2026-09-27T08:59:48.275Z"}}
